Senior BJP leader and former Rajasthan Minister Hem Singh Bhadana passed away at a hospital in Alwar on Monday morning.

Bhadana, 59, had been suffering from cancer for the past few months. His condition deteriorated suddenly on Monday morning, following which he was rushed to a private hospital in Alwar. Doctors declared him dead after examination in the emergency ward.

Later in the day, he was cremated at his native village Bhageri Kalan in the Kishangarhbas region of Alwar district.

Bhadana won the Thanagazi Assembly seat in Alwar district on a BJP ticket twice, in 2008 and 2013.

During his second term as MLA, he was inducted into the Vasundhara Raje-led Council of Ministers as Minister of State and was later promoted to the Cabinet.

Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, former Chief Ministers Vasundhara Raje and Ashok Gehlot, and Rajasthan Assembly Speaker Vasudev Devnani condoled the demise of the senior BJP leader.
